Hiking Trails
If you want to get active and get back to nature, there are some fantastic walking tracks on the mainland.
The Honeyeater Track is a local favourite, starting from the top of Kara Crescent in Airlie Beach. This trail requires a good level of fitness, taking around two hours for the return journey, but the effort is well worth it — the summit offers breathtaking views over Airlie Beach and across the Whitsunday Islands. Be sure to set out early and bring plenty of water.
For more scenic options, head to Shute Harbour, where the Coral Beach walking track provides another rewarding hike. Nearby, the Mount Rooper Track also offers a fantastic workout with panoramic views. If you’re looking for something gentler, venture a little further to the Brandy Creek walking circuit, a beautiful rainforest trail suitable for all fitness levels, accessed via the Brandy Creek Road turnoff.
